HOME DEPOT LETTER FOR THE ONLY ONE YOU ROCK GARDEN
In order to make the rock garden a reality for our students, I sought funding from a variety of sources. I discussed the initiative with the PTO and reached out to several local landscaping companies. I even contacted the county's rock quarry to see if they would be willing to help. In the end, Home Depot had the type of rocks we needed and a philanthropic mission that made them a great match for our project. They donated over 150 lbs of rocks for our students to paint in conjunction with the Only One You book study. |

MEETING ATTENDANCE & PARTICIPATION
Throughout the course of the year, I attended several leadership, PBIS, PTO, and athletic booster meetings. These experiences taught me to navigate the political influences of school leadership and helped me decide when to speak up and when to listen. For example, I listened and asked questions during my first few leadership meetings at Englewood. Once I understood the dynamics of the school and staff, I began to speak out more and offer the administrative perspective. People responded well to this because I had built solid relationships and had already deposited much into the emotional bank accounts. Therefore, they were willing to hear me out and respect my thoughts and decisions. |
ENGLEWOOD'S GOT TALENT
I compiled a list of our staff's strengths using a Google Forms survey. Each staff member selected educational topics that aligned with their expertise. The final product was a shared document that identifies staff members who are strong in pedagogy, management, technology, etc. Staff members use this product to identify colleagues who will be able to support them in various topics through peer observation or the sharing of resources. Englewood's Got Talent empowered staff to provide in-house professional development to one another by sharing expertise. |
