INSTRUCTIONAL FRAMEWORK PLC I co-led a PLC with my principal on the district's instructional framework. We focused on one aspect of the framework- the learning purpose- so as to deliver bite-sized professional development. We established a common language for the school and gave teachers the time they needed to collaborate and write their own lesson learning purposes. |
B. SCHOOL CULTURE AND IDENTITY:
THE SCHOOL EXECUTIVE DEVELOPS AND USES SHARED VISION, VALUES AND GOALS TO DEFINE THE IDENTITY AND CULTURE OF THE SCHOOL.

ONLY ONE YOU BOOK STUDY & CAMPUS BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT
The school counselor and I partnered to build a sense of school pride and spirit among students and staff members. First, we orchestrated a school-wide book study of Only One You by Linda Kranz. This book teaches the value of uniqueness and how each person contributes to the world. We hope that students learned that their individuality is something to be celebrated and that they all are significant in the Englewood community. After the book study, everyone in the school painted a rock to symbolize their own uniqueness for the rock garden. Although each stone is designed differently, they all work together to create a beautiful landscape. Please see my donation letter to Home Depot below.

WE "DONUT" FORGET HOW AWESOME YOU ARE!
I started a monthly teacher appreciation donut day in response to the school's needs. The principal wanted a focus on staff morale to mitigate the stress of larger class sizes and fewer support personnel. "Donut day" was a small, yet popular, strategy to build a positive and cheerful culture.

HONORING MRS. WHITLEY
Mrs. Whitley was the principal of Englewood Elementary for 7 years. The staff was heartbroken when she announced her resignation. At her farewell party, I showed the following video to her and the staff to celebrate her time as the principal of our school.

EES STAR TEACHER AWARD The Climate Committee and school counselor partnered with the EES art teacher to create the weekly Star Teacher award. Staff members nominate and select teachers who have gone the extra mile for their students. Students can also nominate EES teachers during their art class each week. The team decided to create another weekly award for Star Staff Member of the week to celebrate the accomplishments of our support staff. We hang the sign on the teacher or staff member's door, announce the weekly winner over the intercom (including the reason they were chosen), and put their picture up on our Facebook page. Teachers continue to be excited and honored by the Star Teacher award. |

COACHING TEACHERS
I conducted 20 evaluations and countless walk-throughs throughout the course of the year. I used these opportunities to provide specific feedback and to coach teachers. I found that giving teachers manageable, concrete action steps or tools helped them successfully develop. I located the following document for a teacher who was looking for strategies to improve in standard 4. She utilized the strategy in her classroom and provided the form as an artifact during her next evaluation. |

ENGLEWOOD'S GOT TALENT
I compiled a list of our staff's strengths using a Google Forms survey. Each staff member selected educational topics that aligned with their expertise. The final product was a shared document that identifies staff members who are strong in pedagogy, management, technology, etc. Staff members use this product to identify colleagues who will be able to support them in various topics through peer observation or the sharing of resources. Englewood's Got Talent empowered staff to provide in-house professional development to one another by sharing expertise.
